Reserved, quiet, wise and free spirited You are a sprite of the Earth: You have a deep connection with the earth and all its creatures, preferring plants and animals to people you are quiet and reserved. You understand things on a different level and can often see straight through to a persons true intentions. You are mysterious to everyone even those in your family, they may live with you but that doesn't mean they 'know' the real you. Being inside the house for long periods of time can be torture, you crave the outdoors and love simply escaping up a tree or into the forest where you can be free. Although you may be smart you are easy to judge a person because you fear what they 'may' be going to do. You are wise in things that most overlook and you are very creative in many aspects like art, music, etc... Although try as they may to seek you, you are a free spirit. Just let them try to catch and put you in a cage. .::=What type of mythical Sprite are you?=::. -With Anime Pictures and detailed answers- brought to you by Quizilla | | Saturday, November 20th, 2004 | | 4:29 pm |

Like the deep, earthy sound of the djideridoo, your very essence is intertwined with Mother Nature. You find little or no use for the human abominations that have littered the earth. Instead, you seek solace in the cool touch of grass on your feet, the silver shine of the moon, and the brilliance of a sunrise at the brisk dawn. Close Encounter with a Bird of Prey
A juvenile Cooper's hawk, to be precise. Master and i found him flopping around near the fence while mowing about an hour ago. I watched him like ... never mind ... while master made phone calls. I sent calm, healing energy and talked in what i hoped was a soothing voice. Once or twice i cought myself calling him "little birdie," a nickname i quickly realized would be more appropriate for the kind of bird this one eats. I was afraid we might lose him before help came, but he hung in there. The wildlife rescue lady said it's most likely a head injury; so she's going to give him something to prevent brain swelling. Healing thoughts for a hawk in Cumming Georgia are greatly apreciated. Updates on his recovery will be posted as we get them. Current Mood: hopeful | | Wednesday, September 24th, 2003 | | 7:26 am |

Welcome to the world, Ava
My second niece was born in SLC last night! Maren has been looking forward to being a big sister; we'll see how she likes the reality of sharing attention with little sister Ava. Current Mood: cheerful | | Thursday, July 24th, 2003 | | 10:54 am |
My trip to SLC
Two days ago i returned from four days in Salt Lake City with my mother, sister, and niece. July 17: Met Mom at Atlanta airport and boarded our flight to Salt Lake. The in-flight movie was Down With Love, which didn't interest either of us, so we read. Christy was there with Maren; big with her second child which is due near the end of September. Maren is 20 months old, blond, blue-eyed and over 3 feet tall already. I love the way she softens the "g" in my name: "Paysh". Friday: We took Maren to a morning show of "Finding Nemo." Christy and i enjoyed it more than she did; mom missed half of it being a grandma. Saturday: Dinner with the other grandparents, who are, naturally, completely gaga over the child. She impressed us all by looking for a doll and saying "I can't find baby!" Quite a grammatical feat for a toddler. Sunday: Morning Mass with Maren and parents. Christy's comment about church services with a toddler: "I'm pretty sure they talk about God." Of course Grandma spent the entire service entertaining her and loving it. In a quiet part of the service i knelt to pray and heard : "Paysh? Wake up, Paysh!" Monday: Shopping day. We looked in a couple of furniture stores because a mother needs a La-z-boy rocker/recliner. One had a children's area was kept Maren occupied nicely. THe other had little red car-shaped strollers, which she loved. Auntie got the job of pushing her around while she made "voom voom" noises. THen it was on to the mall, where Maren got some new books. Yep, she's gonna be a reader-- and a scifi fan if her Uncle [ Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('<ljuser=drishnak>') in entry. Yep, she's gonna be a reader-- and a scifi fan if her Uncle <ljuser=drishnak> has anything to say about it. One is a little bath book with a tiny rubber ducky on a yellow plastic chain - which she my have removed by now. Christy and i found a couple of our childhood favorites: "Put Me in the Zoo" -- about a big cat with magic spots, and "The Best Nest," in which Mr. and mrs. Bird look for a new home. I scored a comfy pair of sandals. Looking at "The Best Nest" with fresh adult eyes, my sister and i concluded that Mrs. Bird is a BITCH. Not in front of Maren, of course. She repeats everything.
My niece is adorable and i love her but i can only take small children in small doses. I missed my sweeties and my critters and was happy to get on that plane back to Hotlanta. I was delayed a bit at security by my new shoes, which have metal inside the soles. The in flight movie thiss time was "Head of State," with Chris Rock and Bernie Mac. Funny and feel-good, definitely worth renting.
It was fun, but it's good to be home. Current Mood: good | | Wednesday, July 9th, 2003 | | 3:36 pm |
League of Extrordinary Beings auryn29a posted this LOEG meme. League of Extraordinary Beings Recruiter: Aslan Leader: Sebastian from web comic Clan of the Cats ( http://www.clanofthecats.com/) Brains: Erin Stonebender from Callahan’s Key by Spider Robinson; age 15 Brawn: Kennedy from BTVS Magic: Willow Rosenberg Comic relief: Rubeus Hagrid Transportation: Norbert the dragon and 4 Hogwarts-issue brooms. Villain: Drusilla from Buffy/Angel Plot: Except for Aslan, the characters come from different universes but the same time frame (present day). Sebastian investigates a noise from the other side of Grandma’s cat door. Kennedy and Willow check out the bedroom closet in their new apartment Erin explores the basement of The Place Hagrid purchases brooms for the school and is just as surprised as anyone else to see Norbert on Diagon Alley ... but more pleasantly. They all end up together in a strange wooded place, Willow being the only one to recognize everyone. They all recognize Aslan when he speaks – Erin having read Narnia when she was two. They are in a world Aslan created – like Narnia but with modern technology. Dru has somehow ended up there, fallen in love with a centaur, and started a whole new race of vampires by turning centaurs, fauns, nymphs, talking beasts, ect. Like Narnia, time is different and they will return to their own worlds at the same moment that they left, so they stick around as it takes to stop Drusilla and the plague she brought to this world. On the way to Panama City, betnybean said that her birthday gift to me would be revealed during our vacation. The revelation occured when we were among the first through the door at Gulf Worldfor the 9 AM Dolphin Encounter. One casual mention that i've always wanted to swim dolphins, an she signed me up to do just that! A cute brunette trainer named Ashley took me, a young couple named Billy and Angela, Christine, a blonde girl of about 12 - 15, and a small boy named Austin into a classroom where she told us some basic facts about dolphin anatomy. 1. The Navy developed sonar by studying their echolocation 2. THey have no sense of smell 3. How to tell male from female: males have genital and rectal slits; femals have their mammary glands tucked inside on either side of the vagina -- "division sign" THen after a conservation video on dolphins and manatees, it was time to get in the water while my sweeties sat on wooden benches to watch with Austin's and Christines parents and an older couple evidently with Billy and Angela. We started with Delphine, but much as horses are said to "feel their oats," she was feeling her fish. After 2 time outs, Ashley decided she was just too excited and brought in Brennan, a retired Navy dolphin. Christine said her skin felt like rubber, but i'm not sure i'd use that analogy. I don't exactly know what i'd compare it to, but dolphin skin is probably the smoothest thing i've ever touched. I held on to Brennan's dorsal fin and was impressed by how powerfully, yet gently, she pulled me through the water. THank you sweetie! Pictures awaiting download from camera. A mother's point of veiw vs that of a grandmother
I called my sister in Salt Lake City on Easter Sunday and was regaled with stories of my 17-month niece. Maren herself put in an occassional "Mommy!" and "No!" (when Christy tried to put her on the phone). I heard about how Palm Sunday fronds become weapons in the hands of toddlers. Also, according to her mother, Maren enjoys running screaming through the house and pulling things out of drawers. She has an extensive vocabulary for her age, but her parents have yet to get her to say "please" or "thank you." However, the one time Daddy slipped and said "shit" in front of her, she picked it up immediately. Then my mother picked up the phone. "She is soooo sweet!" Leave them alone and they'll come home...
Just before we left for the ShakespearTavern, a sublime experience recounted in drishnak's journal, our adopted Chinese daughters escaped from the backyard and disapeared. Ginger was waiting for us when we got back, but Xiaolong gave us more of a scare by not showing up until just a couple of hours ago. Both dogs are home safe and sound, and part of ths year's tax return will be spent on fence repair. Current Mood: relieved | | Monday, April 7th, 2003 | | 7:53 am |
